![]() Well, we haven't had much of a chance to work on MetalKelt material lately as Matt's solo album is taking a bit longer to finish up than anticipated. We do however have arrangements down for several songs once we get back to recording material.
The good news is this, Matt will be playing out on March 15th at the Pour House. So come on down and check it out. We'll be sure to have copious amount of photos and such from the event. So be sure to stop by on the 15th, grab a pint, and enjoy the show! Wednesday, December 13th, 2006 10:07 PM EST Several Updates
![]() Been awhile since there have been any major updates here, so, in order to rectify that:
1. We have started recording work for 2 upcoming albums. They are tentatively being named "Good Drinking Weather" and "Tribute to Resistance". 2. We are also working on one of Matt's projects. He is currently recording an acoustic CD. This is shaping up rather nicely. When we have an expected realeas date we'll let you know. Soon Matt will have a dedicated page for his acoustic work here. Until then the best place for info on this project is Matt's blog on his mySpace page. 3. We will be adding some expanded liner notes and such for Fusing Tradition. As recording progresses we will keep you all updated. -Paul Saturday, September 2nd, 2006 8:21 PM EDT Fusing Tradition Available Online

![]() All the tweaks are done. All the rerecording is done. All the corrections made. We are finishing mixing, mastering and CD design this week. Once we send the CD out for pressing we are going to start taking preorders. Which is very simple you want a CD go to the contact page if you are not in Pittsburgh and send me an E-Mail telling me that you would like to order one (or more) :). I will be in contact with you as to the rest of the information. If you are in Pittsburgh you can do the same with contacting us by e-mail or let me know the next time you see me in person. So now that we are done with the recording and almost realized the first step of the dream I would like to share a few thoughts if I may :). We had a lot of fun recording the CD. It was hard work but it was worth it. I am very pleased with the final product and can't wait for all of you to hear it. The arrangements that Paul came up with are excellent. I am very pleased with the songs that I arranged as well as the one original song The Pride of Ireland that I wrote over the winter. I am working on more material including a song that will be the first metal original we do. Paul is working through his first original which may be the first song we co-write. So there is still a ton of things going on in the works for you to hear. We are still looking for musicians so step 2 of the dream is still in the works as well which is going to the pub and playing for all the wonderful people we have met thorugh going to shows and through online sites such as myspace. Thanks to all of you.
Matt Monday, July 3rd, 2006 12:21 AM EDT The CD artwork is finished!
![]() We have our CD cover finished Paul will be posting it shortly on the Discography page. It looks really good. I put it together last weekend and tonight was the first chance we had to get together. Paul really liked the cover so it has unanimously been approved!
So head over to the Discography page and check it out! Matt Friday, June 16th, 2006 9:24 PM EDT Misc Update
![]() Sorry about that lack of updates lately, things have been pretty crazy. The basic news pertainign to Fusing Tradition is as follows:
Recording: 98% done We have to redo a few of the vocal tracks, shoudl only be a couple hours of work, so when we next get together this will be finished. Everything else: 50% done The artist we had lined up for the cover art had to pull out as they had alot of things going on in their life. Totally understandable, though we will need to decide what exactly we will be doing for the cover still. We have everything else in terms of artwork and insert conceptually finished. Once we finally decide who to get the CDs reproduced/packaged with and find out what specs they want for the artwork everything else should go quickly. Overall, the release in going to have to be pushed back to July. Sorry about the delay, but we want everything to be done as well as possible and would prefer not to release a substandard album. -Paul Thursday, May 18th, 2006 11:43 PM EDT Principal recording finished!
![]() Drunken Sailor came out great. This song is played at breakneck speed. Recording vocals was brutal to say the least.
With principal recording finished now it is tweaking and mixing and mastering and then all the other stuff that goes into a CD Artwork and the like : ) I am heading to Albany tomorrow to visit my sister so I will be listening to it in the car extensively!!! Can't wait to share it with you guys. Paul is really looking forward to it as well. I expect to receive a mix shortly of the song Wow we are done recording. It has been a lot of fun looking back at what we accomplished. Now it is getting it finalized for you the friends and fans of us and getting it into your hands for your listening pleasure. Good Night Matt Monday, May 8th, 2006 11:45 PM EDT Follow Me
![]() We finished up Black and Tans tonight came out pretty nice. Redid the end part and added backing vocals on the chorus. that is 16 of 18
17 is Follow Me Up to Carlow Done! in record time. I had Paul do the drums for the verse and I played the guitar along with him doing the drums. I did the drums for the chorus and guitar and bass and vocals. The Chorus has a nice texture to it. Very thick backing vocals. We listened to a rough mix of it tonight a few times and I think this is going to be a great song for us. We have one song left and that is Drunken Sailor. We are still awaiting submissions for our contest. Remember you get a free copy of the CD so save yourself some money and send us a submission. Matt Friday, May 5th, 2006 12:27 AM EDT One down two to go
![]() We recorded Black and Tans tonight and it came out pretty well.
Tough song to record. The chord changes are kinda goofy. We have some touching up to do on the song and backing vocals to finish but otherwise pretty much done. Carlow and Drunken Sailor to go.... We still need your ideas for Drunken Sailor! Matt Saturday, April 29th, 2006 11:30 PM EDT Finnegan's Wake
![]() We recorded Finnegan's Wake tonight and wow! Came out great. I am very pleased. Recorded Two guitar tracks one bass track and one drum track. Paul added a piano track and vocals. The only thing I can compare this to is maybe the Dropkick Murphy's. We will have it up on the myspace account for streaming go check it out.
Three tracks to go then we are done recording the CD. Then it is fine tuning and then getting it ready for release. Stay tuned to the website here for preordering and release date! We are still running the contest for Drunken Sailor lyrics. Got some good ones so far keep sending them in. That is it for tonight. Matt Wednesday, April 26th, 2006 11:54 PM EDT Fields of Athenry
![]() Track 14 is Fields of Athenry. First tho we retouched some vocals on a couple songs. Loch Lomond I redid the first Verse and it is way better. Redid Verses 2 and 3 of The Pride of Ireland. There was a mic problem last time we recorded. God Save Ireland we re did all the vocals. There are no Backing Vocals and we did an intro where I sing the chorus before the song begins. Came out Pretty well.
On to Athenry I play this song on the guitar all the time. Paul arranged the MetalKelt version. I think it came out very well. The timing was a little difficult for me as I am used to a faster tempo for the song. I couldn't get any of the vocals started at the right point. We got it ironed out tho. This is a very cool version of the song. I recorded on the electric through the clean channel and did the bass and vocals as well. Came out pretty nice. Paul did the keys before he got here to record. His influence for the song is The Murphy's and he set the instrumental break up based loosely on their version. Worked out great. We may be getting together again saturday to work on Finnegan's Wake and Black and Tans. If we finish up those two we are only two songs away from completing the CD. We are still awaiting submissions for Drunken Sailor. We got a couple and they are quite amusing. Keep sending them in! Matt Tuesday, April 25th, 2006 1:48 AM EDT Some Updates
![]() Got some rough edges on the site taken care of. The links page is now up, several photos have been added, and the track list for Fusing Tradition is posted. Also, the MetalKelt MySpace page is up and running. We encourage you to check it out as well as there are a couple tracks available there which aren't on the website here. As always we greatly appreciate feedback, so if you have any comments feel free to E-Mail us at paul@metalkelt.com or matt@metalkelt.com. We should be doing some more recording this Wednesday, so check back later this week for more updates.
-Paul Saturday, April 22nd, 2006 10:27 PM EDT Last Night as I Lay Dreaming
![]() We completed Spancil Hill this evening came out very well. 13 tracks down, 5 to go. Paul and I should be getting together soon to work on the rest of the material. Wow who would have thought we would have recovered so quickly. It wasn't that long ago that his computer crashed and here we are ahead of the game. Paul will be adding pics to the media and bio sections of the site. So check here for them!
We redid The Pride of Ireland as well and that came out better. We will also be putting up the track list for Fusing Tradition. Check the discography section for that. Good night folks Matt and Paul Friday, April 21st, 2006 5:25 PM EDT We Have A Website!
![]() Well, since you're here, the headline is a tad bit redundant since you probably already figured that out. Anyway, things are moving along pretty well and most if not all of the website should be functional within the next couple days. If you are interested in receiving MetalKelt news and such, please sign up for the MetalKelt E-Newsletter. It will be going out monthly or whenever we feel like it. Check back often because alot of changes will be happening here quickly.
